Welcome to DomesticShelters.org. We’re the first and largest online and mobile searchable directory of domestic violence programs and shelters in the U.S. and Canada, and a leading source of helpful tools and information for people experiencing and working to end domestic violence.
What We Do
DomesticShelters.org works to make more people aware of the services available for those experiencing domestic violence and make it faster and easier for victims of domestic violence and their friends/family, as well as program and shelter providers, to quickly find services and information best suited to their location, language and needs.

Impact Report
We welcome you to review our Impact Report. In it, you'll learn about how DomesticShelters.org was originally launched by Arizona-based non-profit Theresa's Fund in August 2014 and the data that has been gathered since to help us understand the positive influence our work is having on people.

We offer a free wish list platform for domestic violence agencies and programs that completely automates the wish list purchasing and delivery process. Available in the U.S., hundreds of organizations use the program — that takes about 5 minutes to initiate — to specify from our catalog of 2,000+ products the exact items and quantities needed so that misfit donations don't occur, to make buying as easy as online shopping for donors and to streamline the logistics with automatic deliveries. Purple Ribbon Awards
In 2020, Theresa's Fund, DomesticShelters.org and experts in the field combined forces to develop and launch the first comprehensive awards program honoring the countless heroes of the domestic violence movement, including advocates, programs, shelters, survivors and members of the community support system. The awards program accepts entries each year on January 1 through the end of February. Three Purple Ribbon medallions are given in each of more than 30 categories and ALL entries are acknowledged with a certificate of recognition. Select entries will receive grants totaling up to $30,000!
The following guidelines are used by DomesticShelters.org to determine which books we will make available in our Recommended Books section. If you are an author and would like us to consider your book for our site, please review the guidelines carefully before submitting. To submit a book, email us at info@domesticshelters.org and include a PDF copy of the book.
- Your book must be published by a traditional publisher, not self-published.
- The book must be professionally written, researched, fact-checked, edited and copyedited.
- The book must meet book publishing industry standards for formatting, structure and presentation.
- The writing must exhibit expert understanding of domestic violence or related topics.
- The author is ideally widely recognized for their expertise on the topic presented.
- The book must have an ISBN 10.
- The book must be available through amazon.com.
- You must submit a PDF version of the book so that it can be easily reviewed.
While we receive many book submissions and reserve the right to determine which books will become available on DomesticShelters.org, we’re nonetheless greatly appreciative of all the good work created by the many people working to help survivors and end domestic violence.
